Jun 24, 2024 · The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration today released its first projections for traffic fatalities in 2024, estimating that 8,650 people died in traffic crashes in the first three months of the year. This represents a decrease of about 3.2% as compared to 8,935 estimated fatalities during the same period in 2023.

NHTSA Releases 2022 Traffic Deaths, 2023 Early Estimates
Apr 1, 2024 · The agency estimates that 40,990 people died in motor vehicle traffic crashes in 2023, a decrease of about 3.6% as compared to 42,514 fatalities reported to have occurred in 2022. The fourth quarter of 2023 represents the seventh consecutive quarterly decline in fatalities beginning with the second quarter of 2022.
