After nominations have been determined and announced, Academy voting members vote in up to ten categories across three genre fields in the genre fields plus the six categories in the General Field to determine the winners.

May 13, 2021 · The Recording Academy's Board of Trustees has appointed Harvey Mason jr., as the Academy's President/CEO, effective June 1. Mason has been in the position on an unpaid, interim basis since January 2020, prior to which he was Chair of the Academy's Board, a position he will now relinquish.
