Amid growing tensions, dozens of ISKCON members have been denied permission to cross into India by Bangladesh Immigration despite valid passports and visas.

Bangladesh immigration authorities barred 54 ISKCON monks from entering India despite having valid visas, citing a lack of government approval.

A day after the second Hindu monk, Shyam Das Prabhu, was arrested in Bangladesh, two other disciples of arrested spiritual leader Chinmoy Krishna Das have also gone missing in Chattogram, ISKCON Kolkata spokesperson Radharamn Das claimed on Saturday.

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that India has consistently and strongly raised the issue of targeted attacks on Hindus and other minorities with Bangladesh government.

Hindus have been subjected to attacks under the Yunus government in Bangladesh for months. An Indian tourist was brutally attacked by an Islamic group.

Chinmoy Krishna Das, a Vaishnavite leader and former member of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) in Bangladesh, was arrested by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police on charges of sedition.

New Delhi expressed concern over the monk's arrest and denial of bail and asked Bangladesh to ensure the safety of Hindus and other minorities. India on Friday said the interim government in Bangladesh must live up to its responsibility of protecting all minorities as it expressed serious concern over the "surge" of extremist rhetoric and increasing incidents of violence against Hindus as well as attacks on temples.
