In case you've not heard of it, Fortune's Run is a first-person shooter with immersive sim elements and an aesthetic not too dissimilar to Doom. Due to its "large scope," the game was released on Steam in early access in September 2023.

The Fortune's Run developer known only as Dizzie has revealed that development on the game will end...because they're going to prison.

The developer's imprisonment has put a stop to the work on Fortune's Run. He's committed to finishing it, but it's hard to say what the future holds.

Dizzie, the creator of Fortune’s Run, a well-known first-person shooter, has announced that she’s stopping the development after receiving a three-year prison sentence. The announcement was shared on Fortune’s Steam page.

I’ve been sentenced to prison for the next 3 years,” they wrote on the game’s Steam page. “It’s a long story, but I’ve lived a very different life before I was a game developer, and I wasn’t living very well.
