Leave it Nick Saban to turn a phrase. The former Alabama coach revealed during his weekly appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” he once suffered from a case of “the dumb ass.” He was talking about taking the Miami Dolphins head coaching job. It isn’t that Miami is a bad organization. In fact, he raved about then-owner Wayne Huizenga.

Nick Saban is one of the all-time greats in the collegiate coaching ranks, but that success didn’t translate to much of anything during his time with the Miami Dolphins. The team went 15-17 in his two seasons with the franchise before Saban resigned from his position to take over as head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide.

While Saban actually loved being in South Florida, the franchise itself wasn’t in the best position to succeed.

Nick Saban had a very funny way of issuing a warning about the pitfalls of NFL head coaching jobs. The former Alabama coach reflected on his own decision to leave LSU for the Miami Dolphins prior to the 2005 season when discussing the Chicago Bears opening.
