Scotland, which has the highest rate of recorded drugs deaths in Europe, is opening a new facility for users to inject illegal drugs under medical supervision.

In their largest city, Scots try a new remedy to bring down rising overdose death rates far higher than British and European averages

It has been more than 10 years in the making but Glasgow’s Safer Drug Consumption Facility will finally open on Monday. The centre to be called The Thistle, will open its doors in Hunter Street in the East End at 9am for the first people to come in and take their own drugs under supervision.
