As expected, Professional Fighters League is doing away with its season format in favor of grand-prix style tournaments in each weight class. The promotion announced on Wednesday that it will be launching what is called its 2025 World Tournament beginning this April.

For the 2025 season, however, the PFL’s tournaments will kickstart with a quarter-final round, meaning a loss will eliminate a fighter immediately. Also, the prize money for a winning finalist will be $500,000. Furthermore, elbows will be legal.

The PFL will institute several changes in 2025, including a complete overhaul of its signature "season" format as well as discontinuing the promotion of separate events under the Bellator MMA banner,

PFL revealed it will distribute more than $20 million dollars to the fighters, including $500,000 to tournament winners.
