Lake-effect snow blanketed swaths of the U.S. as Thanksgiving travelers journeyed home this holiday weekend, with more snow expected to fall over the Great Lakes region through the week

Upstate New York was coated in feet of snow over the weekend, with some areas receiving more than 40 inches of the white stuff.

The highest snow accumulations are expected east of Lake Ontario, where some isolated areas could be hit by up to 60 inches of lake-effect snow by early next week.
