Beyoncé has held off making a major announcement "due to the devastation caused" by the California wildfires, drawing a mixed reaction from fans.

While the firefight continues in Los Angeles, so far torching hundreds of homes and leaving countless people without a place to stay, recovery efforts and donations are in full swing. With the $2.5 million donation, Beyoncé and her team joining the growing list of those pledging support to relief efforts. On January 9, actress Jamie Lee Curtis pledged $1 million herself, and Paris Hilton — who did lose her own home in the Palisades fire — launched an emergency fund through her nonprofit, 11:11 Media Impact.

A handful of wildfires spreading across Los Angeles County and prompting the evacuations of nearly 200,000 people are pushing celebrities—many of whom have lost homes or been forced to evacuate themselves—to donate supplies and money to relief efforts that have barely begun as the blazes rage on.
