"Try to get them [unhoused individuals] in if you can, or tell them to stop them and make them aware that the warming centers are open. Get in. Its gonna be cold. Half the time, they don't have phones. Our folks don't have phones to keep up with the weather. We want to make sure we're saving lives at all costs."

Warming centers and respite spots are available across metro Detroit as cold winds sweep across the region this week.

The warming center is located at Dupuis Recreation Center and is open to provide refuge for individuals experiencing homelessness or lacking sufficient heating in their homes.

In these dangerously cold temperatures, there are warming centers open around Maine. The warming centers include the Augusta Civic Center, which opened up Monday. The city saw the alerts for very cold weather and decided to open the center.

In response to the dangerously cold temperatures, the area has warming centers options to assist individuals experiencing homelessness.

Some Maine communities are opening warming shelters due to the bitter cold temperatures that are expected to last several days.

The temperatures are well below freezing this week with the wind making it feel like the single digits at times.

The City of Gonzales has set up a warming center due to winter weather. The warming center will open at 4 p.m. on Monday, January 20, and is at the Gonzales Civic Center, which is located at 219 S. Irma Boulevard in Gonzales.
