WASHINGTON: US President Joe Biden blasted Meta on Friday (Jan 10) for scrapping fact-checking on Facebook and Instagram in the United States, calling the move "really shameful" after a global network warned of real-world harm if the tech giant expands its decision to other countries.

Meta is ending its diversity, equity and inclusion programs, known as DEI, the company said Friday, becoming the latest company to pull back from such practices in the wake of pressure from conservative critics and customers.

The Meta CEO, in the middle of a pivot to the right, attacked the president, claiming that his administration would "scream" and "curse" to get certain content taken down.

Accompanied by her husband President Joe Biden, the pair mourned the loss of the 39th President of the United States in a well-attended ceremony.
