U.S. stock indexes are rising toward more records Wednesday after tech companies talked up how much artificial intelligence is boosting their results. The S&P 500 rose 0.3% in morning trading to add to what looks to be one of its best years of the millennium.

A rally in some of the world’s largest technology companies drove stocks higher, with traders also wading through the latest economic data and awaiting Jerome Powell’s remarks for clues on the Federal Reserve’s next steps.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average ( ^DJI) climbed 0.6%, or over 200 points, while the S&P 500 ( ^GSPC) added 0.3% on the heels of an all-time closing high. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite ( ^IXIC) gained around 0.5%.

S&P 500 futures are up 0.2%. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures are adding 0.4%. Nasdaq 100 futures are gaining 0.5%. On Tuesday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 76 points, or 0.17%, to 44,706,

U.S. equity futures moved higher again Wednesday as markets regained their end-of-year optimism while eyeing another round of labor market data and key public remarks from Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell later in the session.

Stocks were choppy Tuesday as investors looked ahead to this week's key events on the economic calendar, which include a Wednesday afternoon appearance from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell and the Friday morning release of the November jobs report.
