Ulysses Bentley rushed for 136 yards and a touchdown and No. 15 Mississippi defeated in-state rival Mississippi State 26-14 Friday in the Egg Bowl, keeping its slim College Football Playoff hope alive.

The Ole Miss Rebels hold a slim advantage over the Mississippi State Bulldogs at the intermission of the 2024 Egg Bowl.

The Bulldogs do appear to have found their quarterback for the future, as Van Buren stood toe-to-toe with the nationally ranked Ole Miss defense and kept the Bulldogs in the game for four quarters. The freshman finished with 280 yards passing and one touchdown, along with a handful of big plays.
