A Pennsylvania man was caught with a turtle hidden in his pants when the Transportation Security Administration body scanner triggered an alarm in the area of the man’s groin at Newark Liberty International Airport last week,

A TSA officer conducted a pat-down in the area where the alarm went off and discovered something hidden in the man's groin. When questioned, the man, from East Stroudsburg, reached into his pants and pulled out a live, 5-inch turtle wrapped in a small blue towel. The turtle was identified as a red-eared slider.

After a pat down, the man reached into the front of his pants and pulled out a live turtle, which was wrapped in a blue towel, according to the TSA. The agency said the man identified the turtle as a red-eared slider, which WildlifeNYC describes as an invasive turtle species and one of the most common turtles found in New York City.

Authorities say a man passing through security at a New Jersey airport was found to have a live turtle concealed in his pants.

Transportation Security Administration agents at Newark Liberty International Airport stopped a Pennsylvania man from sneaking a turtle on a flight with him after discovering the reptile in his pants during a pat-down,

"As best as we can tell, the turtle was not harmed by the man’s actions," a TSA official said after an East Stroudsburg man hid the animal in his pants.

On Friday, a man from East Stroudsburg was caught by the TSA at Newark Liberty International Airport with a turtle in his pants.
