The person of interest detained in Saturday’s deadly mass shooting at Brown University that left two dead and nine others injured, has been released, authorities announced. NBC’s Erin McLaughlin reports and Tom Winter joins TODAY on where the search for a suspect goes from here.

Brown University students are supposed to still be at school, on the picturesque campus in Providence, Rhode Island.  This is finals week. But after the mass shooting Saturday, the Ivy League school canceled all final exams,

Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov was identified by his family as one of the two Brown University students who died in Saturday's mass shooting on campus.

Brown University College Republicans has identified one of the students who was killed as Ella Cook, a Mountain Brook 19-year-old who was the organization’s vice president. The other victim was Muhammad Aziz Umurzokov, according to NBC News, which cited the Uzbekistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Benjamin Erickson has been identified as the person authorities detained after the Brown University shooting at Providence, Rhode Island on December 13.

Police responded to an active shooter situation Saturday on campus at the Ivy League school, according to the university's alert system.
