To start the 2025 NASCAR season, Chase Briscoe was hit with a massive penalty. Just days after the Daytona 500 the No. 19 team is in a hole. With a whopping negative 67 points, Briscoe is hoping to overcome the early deficit to make the playoffs.

NASCAR issued a 100-point penalty and suspended Briscoe's crew chief for four weeks. He also lost 10 playoff points and JGR was fined.

As a result of his team's misdeeds, Briscoe and Joe Gibbs Racing were issued matching 100-point driver and owner deductions. JGR was fined an additional $100,000, while Briscoe's crew chief, James Small, was banned four races for the offense. On Wednesday, JGR announced its intention to appeal the punishment.
