Esteban Ocon is being replaced by Jack Doohan for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix as he prepares to depart the Alpine Formula 1 team ahead of the season’s end.

LUSAIL, Qatar — Jack Doohan is poised to replace Esteban Ocon at Alpine for the Formula One Abu Dhabi season finale after talks this weekend in Qatar. Alpine announced in August that Doohan, its reserve driver, would step up to a full-time seat for 2025 and replace Ocon, who had signed a deal in July to join Haas.

Esteban Ocon has reportedly been dropped by Alpine for the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix – with F1 rookie Jack Doohan replacing him. Ocon, who has been a driver for the French team since the 2020 season, joins Haas next year and was expected to see out his five years at Alpine next week.

Only one race remains in the 2024 Formula 1 Grand Prix. But momentum is building towards Jack Doohan making his Alpine debut in that race, the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Esteban Ocon may have an early end to the season at Alpine, according to rumours in the Qatar paddock. If they are proved to be correct, Ocon would be replaced by Jack Doohan, who already has a contract signed with the team for next season.
